In order for your Maya Project to render successfully through the RenderFarm you must follow the 'Maya Project Structure'. This means that you must create a ‘New Maya Project’ when starting a new project. It is important that you place your scenes in this Maya project folder in the 'Scenes' folder, textures in the 'SourceImages' folder, and so on. Please use short names and no spaces when naming your folders, files, projects, textures, etc.
- Open "My Computer” - open the "Render” directory -open the "RenderDrop”
- In the "RenderDrop” folder select File - New Folder. Rename this folder using your CCS username. (ex. Jdoe or Jdoe2)
- In the "RenderPickup” folder select File - New Folder. Rename this folder the same as the folder you made in the "RenderDrop” folder. (This is where your finished render will be located).
- When you are ready to submit your job to the renderfarm please make sure your Maya Project Structure has been properly set, your Render Globals have been set and the camera you want rendered checked ‘renderable’ in the output settings. (Please ask your instructor for further details if needed).
*Important: You must change your ‘Project Data Locations - Images’ path in the Maya Project Settings to "R:\RenderPickup\ your folder name”
(Replace "your folder name” in the above path with the name of the new folder you created).
- Once you are sure your settings are properly set, close your file and copy the entire Maya Project folder to the folder you made in the "RenderDrop”.
- Complete the RenderFarm job request online form located on Blackboard. The form is located on Blackboard under the Campus Tab. Please Fill out all fields. Select the ‘submit’ button when all fields have been filled. You will receive notification that you request has been received for submission.
NOTE: Render jobs are submitted on a first come first serve basis. Due to the varying times a job may take to complete it’s rendering there may be occasions where a job must be divided up by frames and submitted separately to the farm.
High Definition takes a very long time to render. It is recommended that you do not render in HD unless you are rendering a few frames for printing purposes or it is required by your instructor.
You will be contacted by either e-mail when your render job is ready for pickup. You will then have 48hrs. to pickup your folder from the RenderPickup folder. Your folder will be deleted 48hrs. after you have been contacted.
